Betty Hazard, Founder
(1934 - 2012)
Betty Hazard, our founder and guiding spirit, was a hard worker from the start. Raised on a farm in Hebron, she relished working with her dad and driving farm equipment from the age of 12. After school, she worked for many years in the several shoe factories in the area.
She later went back to school to become a
licensed cosmetologist. She worked at the local beauty shop in Norway, and eventually bought the business, which she operated for many years. When the local laundromat that she frequented was listed for sale, Betty saw another opportunity and purchased it.
After working in both businesses for a few
years, her acute shoulder pain forced her to sell the
beauty shop and focus solely on the laundry. As her business grew, the success of the laundry simply outgrew the aging facility.
That's when she involved her son, Rod, who helped build the
facility that folks enjoy today: a modern, clean facility
with top-of-the-line equipment.
We lost Betty in 2012 after a 20 year battle with breast
cancer. She continued to work until the very end. She was loved by so
many and is sorely missed. We carry on her work, remembering her spirit.
" No matter the size, small, medium, or large,
if they do laundry in heaven, I know Betty's in charge!" S. G. W.
